ATLANTA – After a week off, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams will return to the trail at the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C. on Friday Night. The women will begin things at 6:15 p.m. followed by the men’s race at 6:45 p.m.
The race will take place at the Musser Farms Fruit Research Center on the campus of Clemson University, the site of the 2011 ACC Cross Country Championships. The Jackets, along with four ACC schools will get an early look at the course as the Florida State men, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and the host team of Clemson will also be in attendance.
Rounding out the field is Anderson College, Chattahoochee Tech, the Converse women, the Davidson men, Erskine, Furman, King College, and USC Upstate. The FSU men are ranked first in the south division and eighth nationally while the Virginia Tech men and women hold and eighth place ranking in the Southeast division and the Wake Forest men (9th) and women(6th) also hold a Southeast ranking. The Georgia Tech men are ranked 11th in the South.
The women’s race this week will be a 6k as the men will run an 8k.

In their last time out, the Yellow Jackets placed second (men) and fifth (women) at the UGA Invite. The men were paced by senior DJ McMillan who crossed the line sixth overall in 25:15.74. The rest of the Jacket scorers followed suit with the final scorer, Obiandu Igwe crossing just 1 minute and 15 seconds later. The women were led by senior Mary Kownack who took 35th with a time of 19:31.00.

Take Perimeter Rd. half a mile to Cherry Rd. at Walker Golf Course and take a right
Go approximately one mile and take a right onto Old Cherry Rd.
Go approximately two miles across Lake Hartwell until the end of the road
Take a left onto JP Stevens Rd. (at Exxon Station), then the second right onto Martin Creek Rd.
Go approximately three miles and take a left onto Coneross Creek Rd.
Take the next left onto South Friendship Rd.
Go approximately two miles you will arrive at Musser Farms cross country course on your left

Take Highway 28/76 (exit 19A off Interstate 85) approximately nine miles west toward Clemson and turn left onto Old Stone Church Rd. at a traffic light by a cemetery
Take Old Stone Church Rd. approximately one mile and turn left onto Old Cherry Rd. before you reach Walker Golf Course
Go approximately two miles across Lake Hartwell until the end of the road
