ATLANTA – Georgia Tech women’s track and field standouts Nicole Campbell and Jennifer Lentz were named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District III Track & Field Second Team. The awards were announced Thursday.
A senior from Ventura, Calif., Campbell owns a 3.31 grade point average in Science, Technology and Culture. She is also enjoying her finest season to date, as she is automatically qualified for the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.85. She is also provisionally qualified in the 1500 meters with a school record time of 4:19.91.
Campbell has earned All-ACC honors three times this year. She placed second in both the 800 and 1500 meters during the outdoor championships and was a member of the winning 4×400-meter relay during indoor campaign. She is also a member of the Georgia Tech All-Academic Team.
Lentz, a sophomore from Brevard, N.C., sports a 3.64 grade point average in Aerospace Engineering. She competes in middle distance races for the Jackets and owns the team’s third-best outdoor performance in the 800 meters.
Also a member of the women’s swimming and diving team, Lentz competed in both the ACC indoor and outdoor track and field championships this season. She placed 13th in the 800 meters at the conference outdoor championships and 17th in the 400 meters at the indoor meet.
