Tech Women's Tennis Opens Fall Play at the ITA Southern Regionals Friday

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will open its fall season at the ITA Southern Region Championships at the University of Georgia in Athens, beginning Friday morning and continuing through Monday. The tournament will feature the top players from around the southeast and be contested at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Georgia’s campus.

The Jackets will have all seven women competing in the “A” singles bracket and they will have three teams in the “A” doubles bracket. All “A” flight singles and doubles winners, along with the singles finalist, will advance to the ITA/Omni Hotels National Indoor Championships to be held in Ann Arbor, Mich. in the beginning of November.

Sophomore Kelly Anderson is the sixth-seeded singles player in the tournament while the duo of Anderson and Sekita Grant has earned the 3-4th seed in the doubles bracket.

Schools participating in the event include Miami (Fla.), Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Georgia State and Georgia, and play will begin at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning. There will be two rounds of singles on Friday, and admission will be free throughout the tournament. Results on the Tech women will be posted at the end of each day of play.
