ATLANTA — The 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will conclude its regular season schedule this weekend by hosting both 12th-ranked North Carolina and fifth-ranked Duke at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The Yellow Jackets (13-3, 5-1 ACC) will face the Tar Heels (14-6, 5-1 ACC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. and then square off with the Blue Devils (21-2, 6-0 ACC) on Sunday, also at 1 p.m.
Tech has recorded its best season start in school history with its 13-3 record and has already set a new program record for most wins in ACC play with five thus far in the season. The Jackets had a nine-match unbeaten streak snapped at Clemson on April 3, but bounced back last Saturday with a 5-2 home win over Florida State.
In singles play, senior Jaime Wong and rookie Kelly Anderson continue to lead the way for Tech. Wong holds a team-best 23-7 overall record and is ranked 51st in the latest ITA Poll, while Anderson has the team’s top dual-match singles record with her 13-2 mark since joining the team in January.
Anderson and Wong also make up the Jackets’ top doubles team, playing in the No. 1 spot in the lineup. The duo is currently ranked 45th in the nation and holds an 11-4 record this spring.
Tech will be looking for its first win over North Carolina since the 1998 season, while the Yellow Jackets have never beaten Duke in 25 previous encounters.
