Tech Women's Tennis Concludes Play at Michigan Invitational

Ann Arbor, Mich. – Freshman Alison Silverio recorded a singles win at the No. 3 position while Kelly Anderson and Sekita Grant recorded the Jackets’ only doubles victory in the No. 1 slot on the final day of competition at the Michigan Invitational. The event was hosted by the University of Michigan and also involved Eastern Michigan and Louisiana State in competition. Georgia Tech played each team in both singles and doubles throughout the tournament.

Silverio concluded the tournament with a 3-0 record in singles play, downing LSU’s Rocio Fantilli by a 6-1, 6-2 score this afternoon. Other Tech singles winners throughout the tournament included Lyndsay Shosho, Maria Nieto and Lindsey Stauss going 2-1, while Sekita Grant and Kacie Anson went 1-2.

For the tournament, Tech won 11 of 21 singles and five of nine doubles matches while outright winning one singles and two doubles matches and splitting another singles competition.

Grant and Anderson finished competition with two doubles victories by downing Michigan’s Delicata and Tipirneni, 8-3 early in the day. Shosho and Nieto also concluded competition with a 2-1 record at the No. 2 doubles slot while Stauss and Silverio finished 1-2 after dropping a tiebreaker match in the No. 3 position against Michigan to end the day.

The Yellow Jackets return to action at the end of the month when they travel to Minnesota to take on William & Mary on the 31st at 11 a.m. and then the University of Minnesota the following day.
