ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech volleyball team continues its five-match homestand this weekend with a pair of matches Friday and Saturday evening. The Jackets (18-10, 10-8 ACC) will carry their seven-match winning streak into Friday’s meeting with the Boston College Eagles (10-17, 8-10) before continuing Saturday with a matchup against Maryland (11-16, 4-14 ACC). Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
Both matches can be seen on ACC Select (gatech.playonsports.tv) and heard on WREK-Radio (91.1 FM in Atlanta/www.wrek.org), while livestats can be found at www.ramblinwreck.com.
The Jackets have won each of their last seven matches, beginning with a 3-2 win against 25th-ranked Duke in late October, and have taken 10 of their last 12 matches after beginning conference play with an 0-6 record.
Tech holds a 3-2 edge in the series against Boston College and is looking to snap a two-match losing streak to the Eagles Friday evening. All three of the Yellow Jackets’ victories have come at O’Keefe Gymnasium. Saturday’s matchup with Maryland will be the 44th in the series history, with the Terps holding the 24-19 edge. The Jackets are 12-6 against Maryland in Atlanta, and 6-4 under head coach Bond Shymansky.
Tech’s seven-match winning streak is the longest since the Jackets won 21-straight en route to a 27-7 overall record, 16-0 conference mark, and a NCAA Sweet-16 appearance in 2004.
**SCHEDULE NOTE: Georgia Tech’s match against Virginia has been pushed back to 7:30 p.m. due to the start time of the Georgia-Georgia Tech football game and the senior ceremony honoring Abby Showers.
