ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team will travel up I-75 for the Kennesaw State Softball Invitational, Feb. 17-18. The Yellow Jackets will face Georgetown and Miami University on Saturday and Evansville and Kennesaw State on Sunday at Owl Field.
“We are excited about getting the opportunity to compete again this weekend,” said Tech coach Sharon Perkins. “It is great that we are playing so close to home. We should have good support from our fans.”
The Jackets (2-1) will be the opening game of the season for the Hoyas in their first game on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tech will then face Miami (1-4) at 6 p.m. The Rambling Wreck will then face Evansville at 4 p.m. and KSU at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets blew a 1-0 lead in the seventh inning against Troy (6-0) on Wednesday, falling 4-2. Senior Caitlin Lever led the way, going 2-for-3, with a home run and two runs batted in.
Tech has never beaten host Kennesaw State, dropping its three previous games with the Owls, including a 5-4 defeat last year in the Lady Panther Invitational. Tech has never faced Georgetown, and holds a 1-0 mark versus Miami and 3-0 mark versus Evansville.
All games can be followed via live stats on www.ramblinwreck.com. KSU will also broadcast live softball at Webcast.
