Tech Track Travels To Auburn Invite

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field team continues its indoor season Saturday at the Auburn Indoor Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

The Auburn Invite begins at 11 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) with the women’s weight throw, followed by a full schedule of field events, the last of which begins at 6:15 p.m. ET. Georgia Tech is set to compete in the men’s and women’s pole vaults, triple jumps, high jumps and the women’s long jump.

The first running events, the women’s 60-meter preliminaries, is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET. The Jackets have entries in all running events except the men’s 3,000 meters and the relay events.

Forty-one Yellow Jackets are set to compete in 20 events at the meet. Live results are available via the link above and on deltatiming.com.

The meet features 12 teams, including two top-25 teams on the women’s side – No. 5 Georgia and No. 19 Florida State – and four top-25 men’s squads – No. 7 Florida State, No. 13 Georgia, No. 16 Ole Miss and No. 24 Alabama.

Junior sprinter and football player Broderick Snoddy broke the indoor school record at the Birmingham CrossPlex last indoor season in the 60 meters. He shattered the record of 6.72, which he set earlier in the season, with a time of 6.67 and returns to the track this weekend in the same event.

The Yellow Jackets opened the indoor season last weekend at the Orange & Purple Winter Classic, where Tech won three events – Nikita Kirillov (Pole Vault), Julienne McKee (Triple Jump) and Maria Boff, Rachel Hammond, Morgan Jackson and Allison Brackin (Distance Medley Relay).
