ATLANTA – This weekend, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will return to action at the George C. Griffin Track and Field complex when they host the Yellow Jacket Invitational, this Friday and Saturday March 30 and 31.
Tech will bring in some tough competition to the meet from Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, Colorado and Virginia.
Joining the Yellow Jackets at the meet will be East Tennessee State, Georgia, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, Shorter, UT Chattanooga, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, the Air Force men and the Michigan women.
On the men’s side, Georgia comes in at No. 9 followed by Virginia Tech at 10 while the Georgia women are ranked 16th in the country.
The meet will kick off on Friday night at 6 p.m. with the weight throw followed at 9 p.m. by the 5,000m run. On Saturday, the day will kick off with the shot put and javelin at 10:30 a.m. The running events will begin at 12:30 p.m. alongside the pole vault and long jump. The discus will commence at 2 p.m. and will be followed by the high jump at 2:30 and the field events finish with the triple jump at 3 p.m.
On the track side of things, all events will see the women run first followed by the men. The 4x100m relay will begin things followed by the 1,500m run, the 100/110m hurdles, the 400m dash, 100m dash, 800m run, 400m IH, 200m dash, 3,000m steeplechase, and will conclude with the 4x400m relay.
