Tech Track Sweeps ACC Outdoor Track and Field Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After an impressive outing at the Georgia Intercollegiate Invitational, the duo of Shawn Roberts and Leslie Njoku have swept the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week Honors.

Roberts registered the second fastest time in the country in the 1500-meter run, finishing in a personal best time of 3:47.62 for the first place finish at the meet. Roberts kept busy on the weekend also taking part in two relays.

The sophomore from Centerville, Ohio was the anchor leg in the Yellow Jackets 4×800 meter relay team that not only took first place, but posted a time that currently ranks third in the country. He concluded the meet with a third place performance in the 4×400 meter relay, running the third leg for the relay team that finished in 3:22.96.

Njoku, the victor in the 400-meter hurdles, was one of the first runners in the country to eclipse the 1:00 mark with her 58.39 second performance in the race, which currently ranks fourth in the country. Njoku also ran the anchor leg of the 4×100 meter relay team who took home first place honors with a time of 45.75 seconds, currently 19th in the nation.

Tech will be back in action this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track Facility on the campus of Georgia Tech.
