Tech Track Set For ACC Championships

ATLANTA – Fresh off of their first open weekend of the outdoor season, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams are set for the ACC Outdoor Championships. The meet will run from April 19-21 at Lannigan Field on the campus of the University of Virginia.

Charlottesville, Va., will be the host of the ACC Championship for the sixth time and the first since 2002, when the Florida State men and North Carolina women won the title. The Seminole men are the defending champions, while the Clemson Tigers won it last year for the women.

Fans can follow the action on Friday and Saturday via live video streaming on theACC.com. Coverage is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and 1:15-5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Live results will be available throughout the event on the championship website.

The outdoor meet will begin Thursday at 12 p.m. with heptathlon and decathlon events, and field events, including hammer and javelin. The 10,000-meter finals are set for 6:30 p.m

On Friday, the decathlon and heptathlon will conclude, while the rest of the events take place. The field events will kick the day off with a 3 p.m. start to the women’s pole vault finals, the women’s long jump finals and the women’s shot put finals, to be followed by the men’s competition at 6 p.m.

On the track side of things, the running events will begin with the 1,500m run trials at 4 p.m. followed by the 100/110m hurdles, the 400m dash, 100m dash, 800m run, 400m hurdles, 200m dash, and will conclude with the finals of the 3,000m steeplechase at 8:20 p.m.

Saturday marks the conclusion of the meet. The day will begin at Noon with the men’s and women’s high jump as well as the women’s discus. The men’s and women’s triple jump and men’s discus will round out the field competition at 3 p.m.

On the track side, the 4x100m relay will kick start things at 1:30 p.m. to be followed by the finals of the 1,500m run, 100/110m hurdles, 400m dash, 100m dash, 800m run, 400m hurdles, 200m dash, and 5,000m run. The meet will conclude, as usual, with the 4x400m relay at 5:05 p.m.
