ATLANTA – Georgia Tech, which has the 12th seed in the 56th Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, has drawn Clemson, the No. 5 seed, for its first-round game, which will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Georgia Dome.
Thursday’s game, and all but one in the tournament, will be televised on the ACC-Raycom Sports Network and can be seen in Atlanta on WATL-TV (Ch. 36). Coverage outside the ACC region can be seen on either ESPN or ESPN2.
Tech’s games can be heard on radio on the Georgia Tech-ISP Sports Network, and can be heard in Atlanta on flagship station WQXI-AM (790) and WTSH-FM (107.1). National radio coverage of all tournament games can be heard on XM Satellite Radio Channels 190-192.
Other opening round games Thursday include No. 8-seed Virginia Tech vs. No. 9-seed Miami at 12 noon, No. 7 Maryland vs. No. 10 NC State at 7 p.m. and No. 6 Boston College vs. No. 11 Virginia at 9:30 p.m.
Two-time defending ACC champion North Carolina is the No. 1 seed, having clinched their 17th outright ACC regular season title, and 27th overall, with Sunday’s 79-71 win over seventh-ranked Duke.
In addition to top-seeded North Carolina, Wake Forest (No. 2), Duke (No. 3), and Florida State (No. 4) all earned first round byes from Thursday’s opening round session. For 24th-ranked Florida State, it marks the first time that the Seminoles have earned a first-round bye since joining the conference in time for the 1991-92 season.
The ACC Tournament is set to tip-off at noon ET on Thursday, March 12, and will conclude with a 1 p.m. championship contest on Sunday, March 15.
