Philadelphia, Pa. – Sophomore Brandon Lasater ran a 1:47.48 anchor leg and rallied Georgia Tech to a third-place finish Saturday in the 4×800-meter relay during the final day of competition at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
The Yellow Jacket team turned in a time of 7:20.63 to finish behind Penn State (7:14.14) and Villanova (7:17.37). Duke, Princeton, Kentucky and Brown followed with times within three seconds of Tech.
Cole Jackob (1:52.98), Zack Fanelty (1:49.46), Jeremy Greenwald (1:50.73) ran the first three legs of the relay. Lasater’s time was the second best of any anchor leg in the event. Villanova’s Samuel Ellison closed the Wildcats’ race with a time of 1:47.43.
The Yellow Jackets also had a team in the women’s 4×800 relay (Rachel Hammond, Carolina Kissel, Laura Serres and Morgan Jackson), but did not finish in the top 13. Villanova won that event with a Penn Relays record time of 8:17.45.
