Tech Swimming and Diving Swept by Clemson

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams struggled against Clemson Friday, as the Tigers defeated the Yellow Jacket men, 159-84, and the women topped Tech by a count of 156-87 at Emory’s Woodruff P.E. Center.

Senior All-American Shilo Ayalon led the No. 25 Tech men (2-4, 0-2 ACC) with dominating wins in both the 500 and 1000-yard freestyle. He took the 500 in 4:34.57 and went a time of 9:23.48 to place first in the 1000.

Freshman diver Laurissa Prystaj led the women’s effort with victories in both diving events. She posted a score of 226.05 on the one-meter board and tallied 273.30 points for a sizeable victory in the three-meter event. The Yellow Jacket women are now 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the ACC with the loss.

Tech’s women also got strong swims from sophomore Moeko Wallis, who was victorious in the 100 free with a time of 53.43, and freshman Ashley Kracke, who came from behind to win the 200 back in 2:05.91. Sophomore Anna Saum gave Tech a sweep of first and second places in the event with a mark of 2:06.48 to finish second.

Other wins for the Yellow Jacket men came from junior Mike Comer, who won the 50 free in 21.49, senior Tomonori Tsuji, who placed first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.94.

The Jackets have another chance to pick of a victory this weekend, as Tech hosts Alabama Saturday at 1 p.m. at Emory.
