Tech Starts Weekend with Standout Performances

THE FLATS – Led by several personal-best and top three performances, the Georgia Tech track and field team conclude its first day of the Georgia Tech Invite.

Jamir Gibson led the team in the field events with a second-place finish (18.20m/59-8.5) in the men’s shot put.

The Jackets shined in the men’s 1500m, claiming five of the top 10 spots. Zach Jaeger ran an impressive race and fought hard to earn a second place and personal-best time of 3:43.99. Among the top performers for Tech were Myles Collins (3:46.47, PR) in fifth, Joshua Williams (3:46.61, PR) in sixth, Chris Cherono (3:47.39, PR) in seventh and Leif Andersen (3:50.48) in eighth.

In the women’s 1500m, Liz Galarza took home ninth with a time of 4:28.42. Helena Lindsay finished 14th with a time of 4:31.87.

Lindsay also ran a 10th-place time of 17:20.67 in the women’s 5000m. Erin Fegans placed in the top 30 of the event with a time of 17:57.84.

The men’s 5000m was led by James Cragin’s second-place finish (14:10.14) followed by Ronan Sullivan in fifth (14:37.44) and Devin Wade in eighth (14:39.44, PR).

Cole Miller also competed for the Jackets. He earned a time of 9:14.41 to place second in the men’s 3000m steeplechase.

In the women’s sprints, Sheleah Harris finished sixth in the 100m with a time of 11.59.
