Tech Splits Week at Raleigh & Florida State Relays

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field continues the outdoor season this week on the road as they travel to Raleigh Relays and Florida State Relays. Both meets will take place on Thursday, March 23 and Friday, March 24.

The Raleigh Relays will feature a majority of Tech’s distance and mid distance runners. At Florida State relay, the Jackets will compete in a variety of track and field events.

Last time out, Tech opened the outdoor season by hosting its Yellow Jacket Invite. At the home meet, many Jackets experienced success in their respective events.

While multiple Jackets had great performances in the distance events, some of the standouts for Tech were Nick Nyman (5000m), Mary Brady (1500m), Kayla Rose (800m) and Parker Buchheit (800m).

Sheleah Harris (100m, 200m) and Taylor Grimes (100mH) led Tech in the women’s sprint and hurdles events with top three finishes. In the field events, Jamir Gibson won the men’s discus and took second in the men’s shot put. John Watkins placed first in the men’s triple jump and Jill Catton came in third in the women’s long jump.

On Thursday, the Jackets will start competition at Florida State with the women’s, men’s long jump at 5 p.m. In Raleigh, competition for Tech will begin with the men’s 3000m steeplechase at 5:44 p.m.

Participating ACC Programs (Raleigh): Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest

Participating Collegiate Programs (FSU): Auburn, Florida, FAMU, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Southern Miss, Syracuse
