ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team will be looking to get back in the win column this weekend as it travels to the northern reaches of the Atlantic Coast Conference for doubleheaders with Virginia on Saturday and Maryland on Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets won their last conference game by a 2-1 count over Florida State as freshman Tara Knudsen hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Tech the victory and even its ACC record at 1-1. Tech also defeated the Seminoles twice during the 2000 season for its only ACC wins of the year.
The doubleheaders with the Cavaliers and Terrapins will mark the only road games of the conference slate for the Yellow Jackets, who are alone in second place entering this weekends play. Following this weekend, Tech will wrap up its ACC schedule the next weekend with single games against North Carolina on April 21 and 22 at 2:00 and 1:00 p.m. respectively.
Tech will also be looking to bounce back from a doubleheader sweep at the hands of in-state rival Georgia on April 11. The Jackets were unable to overcome seven errors in the two games, including a season-high five in the first game and fell by scores of 5-4 and 3-2.
