CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A trio of Georgia Tech men’s tennis singles competitors, including senior West Nott and sophomores Trevor McLeod and Marko Rajevac all advanced to the second round on the first day of the ITA Region II Championship in Chapel Hill, N.C. All three players are part of the qualifying singles draw, which leads into this weekend’s main draw.
Nott was one of the first winners on the day for the Yellow Jackets, as he defeated William & Mary’s Kel Patrick in straight sets. After winning the first set by a 6-3 score, Nott advanced with his 6-4 second-set victory. He will now face Campbell’s Martin Parkes in the second round on Thursday morning.
In the top half of the qualifying bracket, Rajevac was also a straight-set winner over American’s Guillama Tarralle. Rajevac won a hard-fought first set by a 7-5 score before cruising to a 6-2 victory in the second set. He will square off with William & Mary’s Steven Kane in the next round tomorrow.
The final singles winner of the day for Tech was McLeod, who easily dispatched of Liberty’s Luiz Rino in straight sets on Wednesday, winning the first round by a 6-1 score and then blanking Rino, 6-0 in the second. McLeod will play Florida State’s Joao Bounassar in the second round on Thursday.
