Tech Shines in Steeplechase at Penn Relays

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field team began competition at the Penn Relays with stunning performances from Helena Lindsay and Zach Jaeger in the women’s and men’s 3000m steeplechase.

Lindsay placed third in the women’s event, breaking the school record set back in 2002 with a personal-best time of 9:59.39.

Jaeger followed up Lindsay’s performance with a win in the men’s event. He sprinted into first place with a 16 second PR of 8:40.74. Cole Miller also competed in the men’s race, finishing 10th with a personal-best time of 8:59.77.

James Cragin led the Jackets in the 5,000 meters, finishing 12th for the men with a time of 14:04.43. On the women’s side, Liz Galarza was the first Tech runner to cross the finish line in 19th place (16:18.38).

Lydia Troupe competed in the women’s 400m hurdles, finishing 11th with a season-best time of 59.58.

Tech capped off the day with the women’s 10,000 meters. Katy Earwood was the top performer for the Jackets with a sixth place and personal-best time of 34:58.27.
