Tech Set to Host ACC Track & Field Championships

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to host the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday-Saturday at the George C. Griffin Track on the Georgia Tech campus.

The Yellow Jackets will host the ACC outdoor track meet for the third time and first since welcoming the conference during the 1997 outdoor season.

The three-day event begins Thursday morning with the men’s hammer throw at 9 a.m. Running events will commence at 7 p.m. Thursday with the men’s 10,000-meter run followed by the women’s race. The action continues Friday morning at 10 a.m. with the Decathlon with events going on throughout the day. Saturday with kick-off with the men’s discus at 10 a.m. and conclude with the women’s 4×400-meter relay at 4:45 p.m. The official schedule is available on the ACC Track & Field Championships website.

“Our teams are excited and proud to be hosting the ACC Championships at the Griffin Track Facility this weekend,” men’s head coach Grover Hinsdale said. “I feel good about this team and the effort they will put forth from the first event on Thursday to the last event on Saturday. We’re ready, and looking forward to the opportunity.”

Fans unable to attend the meet will have the opportunity watch a daily round-up of each day’s events on ACC Select.
