THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track & field began the 2022 outdoor season with the Yellow Jacket Invite. The meet is the first of two home meets Tech will host over the course of the year.
The Jackets were placing many athletes in the top five in their events on the day.
On the women’s side, Ashley Sechrest secured second in the 5000m (17:57.26) and Mikayla Williams followed with another second place finish in the long jump (5.66m). Sheleah Harris, Sarah Copeland and Erin Fegans placed fourth in the 100m (11.88), 1500m (4:33.37) and 5000m (18:16.79), respectively, while Attalah Smith took fifth in the long jump (5.66m).
The men’s 1500m was dominated by Tech, Zach Jaeger (3:45.98), Alex Thomas (3:46.57) and Henrik Anderson (3:47.00), place first, second and fourth, respectively. Tristan Autry finished first among attached runners in the 2000m steeplechase (6:00.97).
The White and Gold will compete in day two of the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday. Georgia Tech athletes will being at 12 p.m.
