Tech Men's Tennis Wraps Up Day Two at ITA All-American Pre-Qualies

Chattanooga, Tenn. – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team received a win from the doubles team of West Nott and Scott Schnugg on the second day of play at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying tournament on Saturday.

Nott and Schnugg advanced to the second round of the doubles draw with an 8-6 victory in the opening round. The duo downed the team of Byan Maarschalk and Ravishankar Pathanjali and will next face the tandem of D.J. Gaetz and Jacek Wolicki in the second round on Sunday.

Nott and Schnugg were also the only singles players remaining for the Yellow Jackets in the field. Schnugg picked up a second-round victory over Robbie Blair in straight sets during the morning matches, but was unable to advance against Chris Wettengel in the third round. Schnugg picked up a 6-4, 7-6 win over Blair, but was unable to rally after a second-set win over Wettengel, falling by a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 score.

Nott dropped his second-round match with Eduardo Pacheco in straight sets. Pacheco won a tight 7-5 first set, before rolling to a 6-1 win in the second set.

The Icy Hot/ITA All-American Pre-Qualifier will continue on Sunday with singles and doubles play. The Yellow Jackets will have three doubles team competing in the draw. Full tournament results are available at www.itatennis.com.
