ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (9-4) will try and end its two-match losing streak when it hosts No. 15 Arizona State (10-0) Friday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin 1:30 p.m. Live stats will be available at Ramblinwreck.com.
“Arizona State has been playing some great tennis,” head coach Kenny Thorne said. “The match is a good opportunity for us to prove that we can beat one of the better teams in the nation. A win would be a good way to start spring break.”
The Yellow Jackets are 2-1 all-time against the Sun Devils but dropped last season’s match, 4-3, in Tempe, Ariz. This is the first time that Arizona State will hold a higher national ranking than the Jackets when the two teams meet on the court.
Tech gets back in action after a tough, 7-0, loss at third-ranked Georgia Wednesday. Tech played some good doubles but struggled in singles. Playing with five freshmen in the singles lineup, the Jackets dropped all six singles matches in straight-sets.
The Jackets will close out their non-conference schedule with a double-header next Tuesday, March 18 beginning at 10 a.m. against Wofford, followed by a 2 p.m. match against Chattanooga. Both matches will take place at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
