ATLANTA – – After a two-match road trip, the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team returns home to host No. 15 Florida State Monday at 2:30 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The Yellow Jackets (5-5, 1-1 ACC) make a short turnaround after falling to Miami, 5-2 Saturday in Coral Gables, Fla. Sophomore Guillermo Gomez has won two-consecutive matches at the No. 1 position, including the clinching match in a 4-3 win over Clemson last Wednesday. Gomez is currently the 11th-ranked singles player in the country.
Classmate Miguel Muguruza is also 2-0 to start ACC play, having won both his matches after dropping the first set to each opponent.
The Seminoles hold a slight edge in the all-time series record, leading Tech 28-27. Tech will look to avenge a 5-2 loss to the Garnet and Gold last season in Tallahassee.
After Florida State, the Jackets will have a week off before hosting Tennessee Tech in non-conference action. Tech will then face a tough stretch of the ACC schedule that includes No. 32 Virginia Tech, No. 2 Virginia and No. 23 Wake Forest.
