ATLANTA – Kerri Garin led three Hokies in double-figures as Virginia Tech (18-7, 5-7 ACC) to a 70-54 victory over Georgia Tech (13-12, 2-10) in the final regular-season game at Alexander Memorial Coliseum for the Yellow Jackets.

Chioma Nnamaka scored a game-high 25 points Sunday afternoon, tying a season high that she set two games ago at Boston College, and connected on a career-high six three-pointers against the Hokies. Junior Stephanie Higgs was the only other play in double-figures, scoring 11, including going 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.

Nnamaka and Kasha Terry, playing in the final home game of her career, led the Jackets with eight rebounds in the game, while Terry also recorded three blocks in the contest.

The Jackets were able to convert on just 30.5 percent of their shots, while Virginia Tech shot 50 percent from the field.

The Hokies carried a 29-18 lead into the locker room at halftime, helped by a 46.4 percent shooting mark in the frame, while the Jackets were able to convert on just eight of their 35 attempts. Nnamaka led all scorers with 10 points in the half while pulling down five rebounds in 18 minutes of play.

Virginia Tech scored the first five points of the second half and led by a 37-21 score with just over 17 minutes remaining before the Jackets went on an 11-2 run over the next three minutes to pull within seven on a jumper by Nnamaka at 14:54. The Hokies then went on an 11-2 run of their own to extend the lead back to 16 points with nine minutes remaining.

Dawn Chriss had 12 points for the Hokies, while Kirby Copeland scored 13.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action this week for their final two games of the season when they travel to Charlottesville (Virginia) and Miami before traveling to Greensboro for the ACC Tournament, beginning March 2.
