Tech Drops Tough Battle Against Louisville

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (11-12, 2-7 ACC) and Louisville (13-9, 4-6 ACC) battled it out until the very last match, but the Cardinals ultimately took down Tech in a 4-3 decision.

Louisville gained an early 1-0 advantage after claiming the doubles point. Andres Martin and Keshav Chopra earned a doubles win for Tech. In their first match playing together this season, the duo defeated Louisville’s Alex Wesbrooks and Etienne Donnet, 6-3.

It was extremely close in singles play as each team won three matches. #7 Martin evened the score at 1-1 after he dominated Louisville’s #72 Natan Rodrigues 6-2, 6-4.

After a Tech loss on court two, Rohan Sachdev earned the Jackets another victory with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 win over Louisville’s Sergio Hernandez. The match was tied 3-3 after #90 Chopra upset Louisville’s #50 Fabien Salle in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 decision.

Following Chopra’s victory, it was apparent that the match would come down to court five. Elias Shokry faced tough conditions and a tough opponent in Louisville’s David Mizrahi. The players split the first two sets, but Shokry fell in the third in a close 6-7 [5-7] tiebreak battle. This result granted Louisville the team victory.
