Tech Cross Country Heads to Chile Pepper Festival

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech cross country team heads to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in the University of Arkansas’ Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The men’s ten-kilometer race is scheduled to begin Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. eastern time, with the women’s six-kilometer race at 11:30.

The Jackets will compete against the third-ranked Razorbacks as well as Abilene Christian, Alabama-Huntsville, Barton County, Baylor, Birmingham-Southern College, Boise State, Central Arkansas, Central Florida, East Central University, Evangel, Georgia, Houston, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Kansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, LSU, Loyola, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Memphis, Missouri-Kansas City, New Mexico State, Rice, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-Arlington, TCU, Texas-El Paso, Texas State, Tulsa, Virginia Tech and Wyoming.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets is senior Kyle Rabbitt. A 2003 all-South Region honoree, Rabbitt has competed in one race for Tech this season. The Tyrone, Ga. native helped pace the Jackets at the Notre Dame Invitation. Rabbitt finished second among Tech performers.

Joining Rabbitt on the men’s team are fellow seniors Chris dos Santos and Adam Jones, juniors Rob Kuhn and Clark Rivers, sophomore Blake Fertitta, and freshmen Ryan Pfeffer and Nazar Trilisky.

The sophomore pair of Ann Armsby and Mary Chind leads the women’s team. The duo has paced the Tech women finishing as the top-two Yellow Jackets in both the Georgia State Invitational and the Notre Dame Invite.

Joining the young tandem are senior Jenny Lentz, junior Rachel Heim and freshmen Maria Hampton, Nisha Kurian, Elena Linn and Emily Yandle.
