JACKETS BEGIN TWO-GAME ACC ROAD SWING AT MARYLAND
Georgia Tech begins a two-game road swing this Saturday with an inter-division ACC game at Maryland. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. in College Park and the game can be seen live on the ACC Network.

The Jackets are looking to bounce back from a Homecoming setback to BYU, and are still alive in the Coastal Division race with conference games remaining at North Carolina (Nov. 10) and versus Duke on Senior Day (Nov. 17).

Tech is making its first trip to Byrd Stadium since the 2007 season, and all-time is 14-6 versus the Terrapins. The Jackets own a commanding 9-1 lead in home games, but are just 5-5 in the series on the road.

QUICK OUTS
• The Yellow Jackets have rushed for more yards than any FBS team since 2008 and own the nation’s fourth-leading rushing attack this season at 311.8 yards/game.

• Senior QB Tevin Washington has rushed for 15 touchdowns this season, including a school record-tying four-TD effort versus Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 29.

• Washington is third in the ACC and 10th nationally in scoring at 11.2 points/game. His 15 rushing TDs are the third-most nationally by any player, and the most by an FBS QB.

• With 33 career rushing TDs, Washington stands second all-time at Tech and in the ACC. He continues to close in on Joshua Nesbitt’s (2007-10) school and ACC record of 35 rushing TDs by a quarterback.

• Sophomore return specialist Jamal Golden leads the ACC and is 15th nationally in kick return average (28.1 avg). He totalled 174 KO return yards versus BYU, including a 97-yarder for a touchdown — Tech’s first KO return for a TD since Oct. 31, 1998 at Maryland.

• Senior AB Orwin Smith has racked up 865 all-purpose yards this season and his 108.1 average is 11th in the ACC.

• Smith’s career average of 9.7 yards per carry is the highest by any active FBS player with 100+ career carries.

• Tech’s defense has recorded at least one interception in seven consecutive games. Eight players share the team’s nine picks, led by Jemea Thomas’ two.

TECH-MARYLAND SERIES NOTES
• Georgia Tech leads the all-time series, 14-6.

• The Yellow Jackets have won four of the last five and eight of the last 11 meetings, including a 21-16 win over the Terrapins in Atlanta last season.

• Tech is 5-5 in games Maryland — that includes a 1998 meeting at Ravens Stadium — and will play in Byrd Stadium for the first time since 2007.

• The last time the Jackets played in College Park was a 28-26 Terp victory in 2007.

• The last three meetings between the two teams have been decided by 11 points combined.

• Georgia Tech and Maryland didn’t meet on the gridiron until 1988, then played every season from 1988-2004.

• Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson is 1-1 all-time vs. Maryland. While coaching at Navy, Johnson’s Midshipmen played Maryland just once — a 23-20 Terrapin victory to open the 2005 season in a game played in Baltimore.

• Maryland’s Randy Edsall is 0-4 against Georgia Tech, including an 0-1 mark at Maryland and 0-3 while at Connecticut.
