ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s 13th-ranked baseball team will play its annual “Alumni Game” on Sunday at 12 noon at the newly rebuilt Russ Chandler Stadium.
Prior to the game, there will be a cookout and autograph session featuring former Tech stars Jason Varitek of the Boston Red Sox, Kevin Brown of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Doug Creek of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Mark Teixeira of the Texas Rangers organization. Those festivities will begin at 11:15 a.m.
First pitch for the game, which will feature the current Yellow Jackets against former Tech players, is set for 12 noon. The teams will play a nine-inning contest.
Sunday’s Alumni Game will be the first chance for fans to watch an event at the new, $7 million Russ Chandler Stadium. The new facility, which includes 4,354 seats, is built on the same location as the old stadium and has been completed in less than eight months.
Admission to the game is $4 for adults and $2 for youth, while the cookout is priced at $7 for adults and $5 for youth. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Tech baseball program.
The weekend of festivities will continue on Monday evening, when the Tech baseball program hosts its annual benefit dinner. The event, which includes a silent auction and a keynote address from Jason Varitek, begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.
