ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s April 20th spring football game, which for the first time will be played on a Friday night, will be more of a festival than an intra-squad scrimmage.
Called “Friday Night on the Flats, presented by PNC Bank,” pre- and post-game concerts, as well as post-game fireworks, will surround the 7:45 p.m. kickoff in Bobby Dodd Stadium.
“The feedback we have received about playing the spring game on a Friday night has been very positive,” associate athletic director Wayne Hogan said. “With pre- and post-game concerts, and post-game fireworks, it should be a fun event for families and students as well.”
Festivities will begin on Bobby Dodd Way and Callaway Plaza at 5:30 p.m. with fun and games for families as well as students. There will be live music (provided by radio station 99X), games, inflatables, Buzz the mascot and the Georgia Tech cheerleaders.
The pre-game concert will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Bobby Dodd Way. The band for the pre-game concert will be announced soon.
Immediately following the game there will be a fireworks show and a post-game concert, featuring the band Civil Twilight.
