THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis started singles main draw play at the ITA All-Americans when No. 26 Marcus McDaniel and No. 31 Andres Martin got their first action of the season.
The pairing forms the No. 8 doubles team in the nation and showed it in a resounding score of 6-2 and 6-4 against the pairing of No. 31 Hohmann/Lobak from LSU. The duo will face a pairing of Stewart/Henning from Georgia tomorrow.
In singles action, Martin won his match against Tadeas Paroulek of Baylor by a score of 6-1 and 6-2. McDaniel was upset by Andre Ilagan by a score of 6-3 and 6-0.
Martin advances to the Round of 32 where he will face Filippo Moroni of Wake Forest. McDaniel moves on to the consolation bracket and a match up with Eric Hadigian of Pepperdine. Both matches start tomorrow.
