The men (1-1), who are receiving votes in the latest CSCAA Top 25 Poll, will battle the Hokies, while the women (1-1) are set for a double dual versus VT and FGCU.
The Yellow Jackets are looking to continue the momentum of their strong start, which saw both the men and women roll to season-opening wins over College of Charleston, and the men battle Georgia to the wire.
“This is a big meet for us this weekend,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “It’s parents’ weekend and it is our only home ACC meet of the season. FGCU should be a good test for our women. They are always a strong program.”
Sophomore Andrew Kosic claimed ACC men’s swimmer of the week honors and senior Brandon Makinson repeated as the ACC men’s diver of the week for their efforts versus Georgia in early October.
Kosic pulled off an impressive double victory in both the 50 free (20.63) and 100 free (45.15) in the narrow loss to Georgia. It marked the second-consecutive meet and third time in his career that Kosic won both sprint freestyle events in the same meet. The West Chester, Pa., native also anchored the winning 200 medley relay in 1:31.17.
Makinson was a repeat winner of the men’s diver of the week honor as the senior won both springboard events and broke his own school record on the 3-meter board in the dual meet versus Georgia. The native of Alberta, Canada broke his own 3-meter record in the season-opener, then smashed it versus UGA by 13 points with a winning score of 422.55. His winning 1-meter score of 375.23 was .02 shy of his own school record.
Following Saturday’s meet, the Jackets host the GT Invitational November 30 through December 2.
