The Jackets have had nearly a month off since last competing at home versus Virginia Tech and Florida Gulf Coast. FGCU is back for this weekend’s invitational, and joins Florida State, Alabama, Emory, Miami and Clemson.
“This is a very important event for us each season,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “There are a lot of very strong programs coming in, so this will be a tough test for us. We’re excited about the meet as it’s our last chance to race together before exams and the holidays.”
Live scoring will be available at RamblinWreck.com for all six sessions of the GT Invitational, with free live video coverage available each evening for the finals.
The Tech women are 1-3 overall and the men are 1-2, having each opened their seasons with wins over the College of Charleston. The men, led by sophomore Andrew Kosic who ranks among the ACC leaders in both sprint freestyle events, also dropped a narrow decision to Georgia in mid-October.
Kosic was the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week in November, while senior diver Brandon Makinson – a three-time ACC Diver of the Week – remains undefeated on both springboard events in 2012.
