Swim-Dive to Compete in Swim Across America Race

THE FLATS – Continuing its commitment to supporting charitable causes fighting cancer, Georgia Tech swimming and diving will participate in the annual Swim Across America open water swim at Lake Lanier to help raise money for cancer research and treatment.

The ninth annual Atlanta Open Water Swim is scheduled for Oct. 2 at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park. Although not officially a race, Tech will swim the 5-kilometer course to help benefit local children’s hospitals.

“I continue to be so proud of our team for its commitment to giving back to the community and for fundraising for this cause,” head coach Courtney Shealy Hart said. “Our student-athletes have already raised nearly $2,500 and we still have 17 days until we hit the water. That is truly incredible!”

Fans and supporters can donate to the cause by visiting the Georgia Tech Team Page HERE or by clicking the blue button at the top of the article and selecting a member of the team roster or simply clicking “Donate Now.” All funds raised by Tech go directly to local children’s hospitals with more than $2.25 million raised to date by Swim Across America.

Over the last two years, Georgia Tech swimming and diving has raised more than $10,000 toward cancer research and treatment at local children’s hospitals.
