Strong Showing by Yellow Jackets Track Team at Modesto Relays

MODESTO, CA. — The Georgia Tech Track Team wrapped up its busy weekend with six top ten finishes at Saturday’s Modesto Relays at Modesto Junior College in California.

Sophomore Amandi Rhett led the Yellow Jacket women with two top five finishes. Rhett placed fourth in the invitational 100 meters with a time of 11.70 and placed fifth in the invitational 200 meters with a time of 24.20. Freshman Shanta Smith finished fourth in the invitational 400 meters with a time of 56.57. In the invitational 100 meter hurdles, senior Alisha McClinton finished seventh with a time of 13.80.

In the field events, junior Jessica DeFreitas and senior Mishanta Reyes finished fifth and sixth respectively in the invitational long jump. DeFreitas recorded a mark of 19’6.75″ while Reyes’ mark was 19’2.50.” In the invitational high jump, senior Jennifer Ledbetter placed eleventh with a jump of 5’6.”

The Yellow Jackets return home for the Georgia Tech Invitational beginning Thursday May 16th.
