2020 (Junior): Started in all 16 games in the shortened 2020 season … Led the ACC with a whopping .450 batting average, recording 27 hits (five doubles) in 60 at-bats, striking out just three times total … Finished as the last Power 5 hitter and one of three Division I hitters to strike out, not striking out until March 3 … Reached base at a .521 clip and was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases … Had a perfect fielding percentage in left field … Recorded a hit in all but one game … Led the team with eight multi-hit games … Led team with longest hitting streak (10 games) … Went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI against Cincinnati (Feb. 15) during Opening Weekend … Smashed two double against St. John’s (Feb. 16) … Hit the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the ninth at Georgia Southern (Feb. 18), his second hit and RBI of the night … Was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored against Ohio State (Feb. 21) … Finished the Ohio State series (Feb. 21-23) a red-hot 5-for-9 with two RBI and five runs scored … Also recorded three hits against Gardner-Webb (Feb. 25) to push his average to .593 … Finished with two hits against then-No. 4 Georgia (Feb. 28) and Tennessee Tech (March 3) … Had his third and final three-hit game of the season against Virginia Tech (March 6) … Finished the season on a five-game hit streak … His career batting average of .374 ranks eighth all-time at Georgia Tech and is the best hitter since current Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon, who hit .396 for his career in 2007-08 … Was selected in the third round (No. 98 overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics.
2019 (Sophomore): Led Tech and finished second in the ACC in hitting (.355) as the team’s primary designated hitter …Primarily hit second in the lineup (53 games) where Tech was 39-14 … Also led team with 78 hits, 61 runs scored, eight sac bunts and finished second in on-base percentage (.441) … Started 59 of 60 games … Also made seven appearances in the field, mainly at first base … The ACC’s hottest hitter for most of the season, was still hitting well north of .400 through March … Reached base in 21-straight games during the season (April 16-May 25)) and overall reached base in 51 one his 60 games played … Caught fire in several stretches of the season … In a season-long seven-game hit streak (Feb. 26-March 8), finished with 13 hits … In six-game hit streak (March 10-19), finished with 18 hits … Recorded a hit in eight of the final 10 games of the season (May 18-June 2), tallying 12 hits total … Walked off then-No. 9-ranked and NCAA Super Regional participant North Carolina (April 6) with sac fly in the bottom of the ninth, bringing home Austin Wilhite from third to win 11-10 … Launched his first home run of the season (three RBI) in the fifth inning of the ACC Tournament semifinals against then-No. 13-ranked and eventual Greenville NCAA Regional participant NC State (May 25), breaking the 1-1 standstill and igniting eight runs unanswered to give Tech the 9-2 win and a berth in the ACC Championship Game … The homer was just the third of his career … Recorded a career-high four hits in back-to-back games (March 12 – Georgia Southern; March 15 – Virginia) … Led Tech with 26 multi-hit games, including a whopping 20 two-hit outings … Named to All-ACC Tournament Team after finishing the week with five hits, three RBI and two extra-base hits … Became only the 11th Georgia Tech baseball player to earn Academic All-America honors and only the fourth to earn first-team honors, joining Nomar Garciaparra (1994), L.J. Yankosky (1997-98) and Mark Teixeira (2000) – he finished the year with a 3.91 GPA in industrial engineering.
2018 (Freshman): Played in 28 games, making 10 starts as a true freshman before being hampered by a shoulder injury … Saw time in the outfield and at second base … Hit .368 with two home runs, two doubles, nine RBIs and 12 runs scored … Was among the leaders on the team with a .579 slugging percentage and a .510 on-base percentage … Hit .400 over 16 ACC games on the year … Made his collegiate debut on opening weekend versus Bradley (Feb. 17) … Picked up his first career hit, a three-run home run, in his first career at-bat in the Friday night win over Dartmouth (Feb. 23) … Registered his first career start the following day versus Dartmouth (Feb. 24), going 1-for-3 with a run scored .. Recorded a season-high two base hits in home wins versus No. 6 Auburn (March 20), Miami (March 30) and No. 6 Florida State (April 7) … Went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in the home win over No. 6 Auburn (March 20) … Was 1-for-3 in the shutout win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Feb. 27) … Went 1-for-2 with a run scored in the Saturday win against Virginia Tech (March 17) … Was 1-for-4 with a run scored in a start at No. 6 NC State (March 25) … Picked up a pinch-hit RBI single in the lone loss to No. 6 Florida State (April 6) … Was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored in the extra-inning loss at No. 8 North Carolina (April 21).
Before Tech: A four-year letter award winner on the baseball team at Walton High School for head coach Shane Amos … Ranked as high as the No. 11 shortstop prospect and the No. 62 overall player in the state of Georgia byPerfect Game for the class of 2017 … Named a 2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game honorable mention all-American as a senior … Was also a PG southeast all-region second team selection in 2017 … Tabbed a 2016 Under Armor preseason all-American … Went on to be named a 2016 Perfect Game underclassmen high honorable mention all-American … A three-time all-region first team selection in 2015, 2016 and 2017 … Named to the Georgia Dugout Club Preview Magazine AAAAAAA all-state second team in 2017 … Recognized as a 2016 all-NHSI honorable mention at the National High School Invitational event … Guided Walton to Region AAAAAAA championships in 2017 and 2015 … Also helped lead his Walton High School team two a sweep of Pope to win the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAAA state championship title and a 32-4 overall record in 2016 as a junior … A member of the East Cobb Yankees for three summers … Was a key part in the Yankees winning the 2015 15U Perfect Game-East Cobb Invitational and the 2014 14U Perfect Game-East Cobb Invitational … Named to a number of all-tournament teams such as the 2016 WWBA National Qualifier all-tournament team, the 2016 18U WWBA National Championship all-tournament team, the 2016 18U Memorial Day at LakePoint all-tournament team, the 2015 WWBA National Qualifier all-tournament team, the 2015 15U WWBA National Championship all-tournament team and the 2015 16U Perfect Game-East Cobb Invitational all-tournament team … A member of the National Honor Society … Also took part in the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy … Posted a 4.48 grade point average in high school and graduated with honors.
Personal: Has an older sister, who is also a student at Tech … Father, Bob, is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech … Mother, Tina, is an engineer at Georgia Tech … Enjoys fishing, hunting and indoor rock climbing … Chose Tech because of the great academics, its baseball history and the great coaches and people … Plans to major in industrial engineering.
