March 27, 2012

ATLANTA – Coming off of a 9-1 run rule victory over Kennesaw State on Wednesday, the Georgia Tech softball team will continue on to Raleigh for a weekend series with the Wolfpack. Saturday’s games are at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday’s at Noon.

The Yellow Jackets and the Wolfpack have met 25 times in the past with the Tech holding the 17-8 series lead. Tech is 11-5 under Sharon Perkins and is on a nine-game win streak over the NC State entering this weekend’s series.

NC State has had a tough season as they are currently 14-18 on the year and just 6-5 at home. The Wolfpack will partake in a doubleheader at Charlotte Wednesday night before they meet up with Tech. Currently, NC State is on a five-game losing streak, falling in each and every ACC game this year to Virginia Tech and Florida State and have dropped nine of its last 11 games.

Ten of Davis’ 26 hits have gone for extra bases this season and four have gone out of the park. Emily Weiman has notched eight of NC State’s victories from the circle with a 2.43 ERA this year in 22 appearances. Weiman has pitched 124.0 innings, allowing 72 runs and tallying 127 strikeouts.
