Snoddy Sets School Record; Roberts Takes First At Meyo Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Broderick Snoddy improved on his school record in the 60 meters and Shawn Roberts took first in the mile as the Georgia Tech track team wrapped up competition at the Meyo Invite Saturday at the Loftus Sports Center.

In the 60-meter preliminaries Friday, Snoddy finished second with a time of 6.79 and repeated that exact performance in the semi-finals. The Carrolton, Ga. native, finished first and improved the school record time, which he set two weeks ago, to 6.72 in the 60-meter finals Saturday.

Roberts took first in the mile with a career-best time of 4:07.00. Jeremy Greenwald finished fifth in a time of 4:08.35 and Alec Clifford crossed the line sixth in a time of 4:09.47.

Mykhail Chambers finished fifth in the high jump with a leap of 2.02m (6-07.50). Also in the men’s field events, Jonathan Gardner placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 15.70m (51-06.25).

Zack Fanelty placed ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.24.

Katie Townsend recorded a time of 10:04.78 to finish first for Tech and 16th overall in the 3,000 meters.  On the men’s side, Eric Powers took third in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:24.90.

Julienne McKee finished third in the triple jump with a distance of 12.69m (41-07.75).

The Jackets are back in action Feb. 8-9 at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
