THE FLATS – Shoshanna Engel, who worked as the Assistant Provost for Student-Athlete Compliance at Tulane since July 2011, was named Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Athletic Director Mike Bobinski announced Friday.
At Tulane, Engel supervised all aspects of the compliance program for 16 varsity sports and provided comprehensive rules education to over 300 student-athletes and more than 110 affiliated staff members.
“I am pleased to welcome Shoshanna Engel to the Georgia Tech family,” Bobinski said. “Shoshanna brings experience, perspective and enthusiasm, along with a great appreciation for Georgia Tech.”
Prior to her post at Tulane, Engel served just over three years as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance at Yale University. With the Bulldogs, Engel worked with 35 varsity sports and over 800 student-athletes.
Engel also served on the compliance staff at both North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina before returning to Yale, her alma mater.
Engel is involved in a number of different committees, including the past two years as a National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) Legislation & Governance Committee member and a Conference USA Legislative Liaison Committee member.
A graduate of Yale University, Engel was a standout gymnast for the Bulldogs. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science in May 2003 and went on to earn her Master of Arts in sport administration from the University of North Carolina in May 2007.
