Shea Earns All-ACC Honors on Day 2 of the ACC Outdoor Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — On day two of the ACC Outdoor Championship, the Georgia Tech track and field team saw Cole Shea and Olivia Moore earn ACC honors on Friday afternoon at Lannigan Field.

Shea jumped a personal-best mark of 5.07m in the men’s pole vault to turn in a second-place finish and earn All-ACC honors. Moore also performed well in the field, turning in a 5th place finish.

Her finish in the women’s pole vault qualified her for second-team All-ACC, thanks to her personal-best mark of 4.02m.

Both Ben Jean and Daniel Pietsch finished in the top seven in the men’s 400-meter event, qualifying them for finals. Jean qualified with the fifth best time in the men’s 400-meter event with a time of 46.91, while Pietsch qualified with the seventh best time after finishing with a time of 47.13.

Jeanine Williams and Avery Bartlett also qualified for finals, each finishing in the top four in their respective events. Williams qualified with the second best time in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.81.

Bartlett, meanwhile, qualified with the fourth best time in the men’s 800-meter event. He would finish with a time of 1:50.10, the best time for a Jacket in that event.

In addition, Claire Mortiz just missed scoring in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, finishing in 10th with a personal-best mark of 10:46.27.

Due to expected heavy rainfall on the final day of the ACC Outdoor Championship field events will begin at 10:00 a.m. and running events will start at 12:30 p.m.

Tyson Spears: 10.62, 19th

Women’s 400 meters:

Denise Woode: 58.27, 20th

Men’s 400 meters:

Ben Jean: 46.91, 5th

Daniel Pietsch: 47.13, 7th

Ty Brooks: 47.56, 13th

Lionel Jones: 48.56, 21st

Women’s 800 meters:

Haley Unthank: 2:14.88, 20th

Jordynn Tyndall: 2:16.15, 22nd

Men’s 800 meters:

Avery Bartlett: 1:50.10, 4th

Bennett Hillier: 1:54.28, 20th

Women’s 100m Hurdles:

Jeanine Williams: 12.81, 2nd

Taylor Grimes: 13.89, 17th

Ebony Forbes: 14.10, 19th, PR

Women’s 3000 Steeplechase:

Claire Mortiz: 10:46.27, 10th, PR

Men’s 3000 Steeplechase:

Sam Costa: 9:29.70, 22nd

Knox Pittman: 9:56.96, 23rd

Women’s Pole Vault:

Olivia Moore: 4.02m, 5th, PR, second-team All-ACC

Men’s Pole Vault:

Cole Shea: 5.07m, 2nd, PR, All-ACC
