Saint Joseph's Hands Tech First Loss, 66-53, at Charleston Classic

Charleston, S.C. – Georgia Tech suffered its first loss of the Brian Gregory era falling 66-53 to Saint Joseph’s in the opening round of the Charleston Classic. The Yellow Jackets carried a 28-23 lead into halftime before a sluggish start to the second half allowed the Hawks to seize control of the game.

The Yellow Jackets face VCU at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the second round. The Rams dropped a 69-54 decision to Seton Hall Friday for their first loss of the season.

Saint Joseph’s used a 14-3 run coming out of the locker room to take the lead and outscored the Yellow Jackets by 18 points in the second half.

Carl Jones led all scorers with 21 points hitting 3-5 three point attempts and all eight of his free throw attempts. The Hawks finished a perfect 17-17 from the free throw line in the game. Langston Galloway chipped in 15 points while Halil Kanacevic logged a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Mfon Udofia led the way for Georgia Tech with 20 points. Kammeon Holsey finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. The Yellow Jackets recorded just four assists in the game as a team and were just 1-12 from three point range. Conversely, Saint Joseph’s finished 9-17 from beyond the arc.
