Former Yellow Jackets defensive end Felipe Claybrooks, a member of four Georgia Tech bowl teams, will be the Honorary Captain for Saturday’s #GTWhiteOut game vs. Miami.
Claybrooks, who was Georgia Tech’s team captain in 2000, was a member of Tech’s team that shared the 1998 ACC title. He helped lead the Jackets to the 1997 Carquest Bowl, 1998 Toyota Gator Bowl, 1999 Toyota Gator Bowl and 2000 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
In four seasons on The Flats, Claybrooks recorded 134 total tackles, 37 tackles for loss and 20 sacks in 41 career games. As a sophomore in 1998, he tallied 10 sacks in just 10 games. He finished his career tied with teammate Greg Gathers for fourth on Georgia Tech’s all-time sacks list.
An undrafted free agent in 2001, he spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns (2001-03), finishing with four tackles in 11 games. He also played for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe and the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League.
The Decatur, Ga., native is now a very successful pharmaceutical sales specialist with Daiichi Sankyo, ranking in the top six percent out of 345 sales specialists. He and his wife Ashunte have two children.
Georgia Tech (4-0, 1-0) returns from its open date to host the Hurricanes for its annual “White Out” game at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
