ACC Pitcher of the Week – May 12, 2025
2025 (Junior): Joined the Yellow Jackets for his draft eligible season in 2025 after playing the first two seasons of his college career at Georgia State. Jones collected third-team all-ACC honors after transitioning into a starting role this season, starting 16 games with a 7-3 record and a 4.92 ERA over 67.2 innings. He struck out 73 batters while holding opponents to only 19 extra base hits, the fewest among GT pitchers with over 50 innings pitched. He was named ACC pitcher of the week in the second-to-last week of the regular season after tossing a 7 inning, complete game one-hitter against No. 20 Louisville, coming up one strike shy of a no-hitter. Jones was the first Tech pitcher since 2011 to record a one-hit shutout and the first since at least the turn of the century to do so against a ranked opponent. He finished his lone year on The Flats with an impressive 9.71 K/9 rate, the 15th best in the ACC.

2024: Made 17 appearances with one start… Finished the season with a team-best 5-1 record and two saves… Had a 7.32 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 39.1 innings pitched… Picked up first save of the seaon going 3.0 innings at Western Carolina, allowing zero earned runs… Picked up first win of the season going 3.1 scoreless innings of relief against Army… Earned second win of the season in his next appearance throwing 4.0 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four at South Alabama… Had back-to-back 3.0 scoreless innings pitched in relief against conference foes James Madison, and Georgia Southern… Started first career game against Old Dominion, though was not credited the win the Panthers would go on to win and clinch a Sun Belt Tournament appearance.
2023: Freshman closer with a 2-2 record and four saves … Had 36 strikeouts in 26.2 innings and a .230 average against … In 9-7 win at Georgia, he struck out Charlie Condon, one of the top hitters in the SEC, with the tying run at second base to end the game … Saved 7-6 win over Marshall by pitching scoreless eighth and ninth innings with three strikeouts … Although not a save situation, he pitched the final two innings and struck out four in win over Old Dominion that clinched Georgia State’s Sun Belt tourney berth … Pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his first save in 3-1 win at James Madison … Pitched a scoreless ninth inning vs. Arkansas State for his second save … Entering the season, he was rated among the Top 500 incoming freshmen in the nation by Perfect Game, which tabbed him the No. 2 freshman in the Sun Belt and No. 91 nationally.
HIGH SCHOOL: Two-time All-State selection in Class AAAAA at Decatur High School, including first-team honors in 2022 and honorable mention recognition in 2021 … Player and Pitcher of the Year in Region 5-AAAAA in 2022 … Led DeKalb County with a 1.29 ERA as a senior … Earned DeKalb County’s John Devore Pitcher of the Year Award in 2021, when he posted a 7-1 record on the mound with 80 strikeouts in 2021 while leading his team with five homers and 30 RBI at the plate … Selected to DeKalb’s Junior All-Star Baseball Classic … Named to the Rawlings Preseason Underclass All-American team in 2020 (Southeast Region honorable mention) and 2021 (Southeast Region first team) … Rated the No. 37 overall player and No. 12 shortstop in Georgia by Perfect Game, which tabbed him the No. 315 player in the nation.
