Roberts Finishes 20th In 800m Run At NCAAs

DES MOINES, Iowa – Making his first ever NCAA Championship appearance, Georgia Tech men’s track and field runner Shawn Roberts finished his junior season out with a 20th place finish in the semifinal round of the 800 meter run at Drake Stadium Wednesday night.

Roberts crossed the line in 1:49.83, fifth in his heat and 20th overall. He was the second fastest runner from the ACC behind Curtis Beach of Duke (1:48.70). The field was led by Erik Sowinski from Iowa with a time of 1:46.09.

Roberts’ season is complete, however, Georgia Tech jumper Julienne McKee will begin her NCAA Championship competition Thursday afternoon in the long jump.
