Record 107 Student-Athletes Participate in Fifth Street Bridge Program

THE FLATS – A record number of Georgia Tech student-athletes will utilize the summer to prepare for life beyond The Flats as 107 Yellow Jackets are participating in summer internships as part of the Georgia Tech athletics’ Fifth Street Bridge Program.

Acquiring internships amongst an array of industries including Fortune 500 companies to startups to units within the athletics department, Georgia Tech student-athletes have the unique capability of networking with organizations in Atlanta and beyond. Among the notable organizations student-athletes will hold internships with this summer include adidas, Atlanta Zoo, Delta, EY, Grady Hospital, IBM, Lockheed Martin, NASA, Norfolk Southern, RaceTrac, Waffle House and UPS.

Georgia Tech athletics’ internship program was rebranded as the Fifth Street Bridge Program to highlight the unique professional and educational opportunities afforded to student-athletes by the campus’ location in Midtown Atlanta. At many top level Division I programs, student-athletes have to stray hours from campus to take advantage of opportunities that Georgia Tech student-athletes can fulfill simply by crossing the Fifth Street Bridge that connects the Tech campus to the heart of Midtown.

Be sure to follow ramblinwreck.com throughout the summer for a series of stories featuring student-athletes’ experiences in their summer internships.
