Rath Advances to the Round of 64 in the Qualifying Rounds of the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Intercollegiate

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Georgia Tech’s Zachary Rath advanced to the Round of 64 in the qualifying rounds of the Icy Hot/ITA Men’s All-American Intercollegiate. The sophomore from Montreal, Quebec Canada defeated Peter Richman of Louisiana State University.

Rath advanced to the qualifying rounds of the All-American Intercollegiate as the `Lucky Loser’. In his first round match-up, Rath dropped the first set 3-6, before sweeping the second set 6-0. In the final set, LSU’s Richman, down 4-2, retired with an injury. Rath will face Colin Purcell from the University of Georgia Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.

In other action, automatic qualifier Jose Luis Muguruza fell to Florida’s Chris Brandi in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). Muguruza teamed up with Marko Rajevac in doubles action on Monday afternoon. The duo was upended by Armando Carrascosa and Daniel Jung from San Diego State, 8-4.

Rath advances as the Yellow Jackets sole competitor in the Icy Hot/ITA Men’s All-American Intercollegiate. Complete results from the tournament are available on the ITA’s website, www.itatennis.com.
