Men’s 100m Breaststroke Results
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In his first race at the 6th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, Georgia Tech freshman Caio Pumputis placed in a tie for 18th-place overall in the 100 men’s breaststroke preliminaries on Wednesday morning in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Swimming for his home country of Brazil, Pumputis earned his top-20 finish with a time of 1:02.64, making him a second alternate for the semifinals. The Jacket newcomer was just .22 seconds out of the top 16 which qualified for the semifinals on Wednesday night.
His time of 1:02.64 was a new career best mark, topping his previous best time of 1:03.81 in the 100 breast event.
With the 100 breast being his first event of the week, Pumputis will now look to build on his strong race from Wednesday with the 200 IM tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 24.
