Georgia Tech Head Coach Brian Gregory

Opening statement…
“We feel very fortunate and I am proud of our guys and the effort that they gave. I liked the toughness that they showed in some adverse situations. We beat a very good team today. A team that that is young and I think it was a little bit of a hangover from the Syracuse game the other night. They played really hard and had a chance down the stretch. They were just not quite the team that we have seen especially at home. Feel good because our guys play hard and with great effort. They showed some toughness. We had some combinations that I never thought I’d see on the court but everybody stepped up and it was a total team win. I feel good about moving forward and with the results of our last three road games have been two wins and lost one in overtime. Despite a little bit of a depleted roster due to injury our guys are still getting better and hanging in there.”

On the three-point shooting…
“We are streaky. When we shoot well we are really good and you saw stretches of that today even with the vast array of lineups we had out there. Our best shooters are young guys and unfortunately that contributes a little bit to the streakiness. Understanding quality shots at times or when to take them adds to it a little bit. I think down the road all of those guys will be really good shooters but sometimes as young guys they aren’t as consistent as you would like.”

On the tempo of the game…
“I thought we built the lead with aggressiveness and being aggressive but at times we rushed things on the offensive end and took some tough shots. With where we are right now, I always say it is better to try to calm guys down than to heat them up. A lot of those plays were aggressive plays but some were mistakes out of not being aggressive enough. It is a game of mistakes and you have to try and limit and make less than the other team and we did that today.”

Wake Forest Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik

Opening statement…
“Give Georgia Tech a lot of credit. They came in here and played very well. Our players fought but we could never seem to get any kind of momentum at all. We always seemed to be one or two plays behind as we tried to battle back, whether it be a timely stop, a bucket, a loose ball or whatever we couldn’t seem to get any traction whatsoever. It’s a bad loss for us. We will just have to get back to the practice floor tomorrow and regroup and keep fighting through this.”

On the status of Codi Miller-McIntyre
“He turned his ankle and was unable to go. I am sure he will be day-to-day.”

On beginning of the game…
“We were sluggish. We missed a couple of layups out of the gate and stepped slow defensively; we didn’t get the ball to the rim. I thought Georgia Tech was too comfortable early on shooting the basketball. They were just too comfortable and all of a sudden they gained confidence and momentum and we were chasing.”
