Porter and Reyes Compete At NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

ATLANTA (March 9) – Senior Clayton Porter and junior Mishanta Reyes both competed on March 9 in the long jump competition at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. The two-day meet is being hosted by the University of Arkansas at Randal Tyson Track.

Porter turned in the top placement of the pair, as he finished 14th in the men’s competition with his leap of 24-7.00. Porter was nearly two feet off the pace of long jump champ Savante Stringfellow of Houston, who had a jump of 26-6.25 to win the national title.

On the women’s side, Reyes placed 16th in the long jump after her leap of 19-4.75. Jenny Adams of Houston led a Cougar sweep of the long jump event, as she turned in a track record distance of 21-11.00. The jump surpassed the previous record of 21-4.75 held by Keyon Soley of UCLA).

The Yellow Jackets have now concluded their indoor season, and will open outdoor competition on March 16-17 at the Snowbird Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla.
