ATLANTA – Montrell Person, a senior from Merriville, Ind., clocked an Atlantic Coast Conference season-best time of 13.71 in the prelims of the men’s 110-meter high hurdles and finished second in the finals with a time of 13.77 to lead the Georgia Tech men’s track and field team on Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track.

Jerome Miller, a freshman from Stafford, Va., tallied a fourth-place finish in the men’s high jump with a season-best and NCAA Region qualifying mark of 6 feet, 11 and ¾ inches, for the Yellow Jackets.

“No one on the team was a surprise qualifier,” said head men’s coach Grover Hinsdale. “Each week you come out and expect the athletes to come out, perform and qualify.”

James Lemons II, a freshman from Atlanta, posted a personal-record and NCAA Region qualifying mark of 50 feet, 4 inches, in the men’s triple jump.

Junior Chase Sasser posted an outdoor season-best clear of 15 feet, 1 inch, in the men’s pole vault to finish the competition in eighth place.

The Yellow Jackets will take almost two weeks off from competition before heading to the NCAA East Region Championships, May 27-28, in Randall’s Island, N.Y.
